Sherlyn Chopra on Rakhi Sawant and Adil Khan Durrani controversy

When asked about the controversy between Rakhi Sawant and Aadil Durani, Sherlyn Chopra said, “You might know that a renowned woman used some offensive words. That’s what we are talking about. When those words reached my ears, I thought, ‘Oh my God! How could she say this? Now I will show her who I am.’ And I retaliated. Today, when I think about how I would want to react in the future if something like this ever happens again, I realize I wouldn’t want to take those labels personally. It’s as simple as that. It all comes down to a shift in perspective, a shift in our perception.”

She continues, “It’s like opening Pandora’s box. I think the less said, the better. Talking about this issue unwillingly leads to negativity, and I don’t want to think about those days. Initially, I was voicing my opinion, fighting for my rights because I was wronged and wanted justice. And I don’t think seeking justice is a crime, correct? But when I was fighting for justice, this renowned woman said things like, ‘Oh, she’s this, she’s that. Why does she need justice? Even if she was assaulted, what difference does it make? She probably wants this to happen to her.'”

The Paurashpur actress said, “At that time, I felt terrible. I thought that no woman should make such remarks about another, no matter who she is or what her background is. No woman wants something like that to happen to her. So, knowingly or unknowingly, such comments should not be made. Those words hurt me deeply, and I reacted. She reacted to my reaction, I reacted to hers, and it became an endless cycle.”

When asked about how she got involved in the Adil Khan Durrani controversy, Ms Chopra chose to not answer this question.

Sherlyn Chopra on negative energy

Speaking about how things affected her, Sherlyn said, “Since we were discussing negative things, we ended up promoting negative energy. When I realized that things were spiralling out of control and it wasn’t good for public figures or celebrities, I thought, ‘What are we doing? We came to this city to work, to build a brand, to grow — not to fight and argue.’ So, I decided to stop. Whatever was said and heard was enough; I didn’t want to say or hear anything further. I focused on my work.

She continued, “If I talk too much about this, I might get emotional and cry, so I won’t talk about it because it was a very painful experience for me. Whenever those days come to mind, I feel they shouldn’t have happened, not to me, not to anyone. That’s the mindset I want to convey because the audience, too, needs to understand both perspectives.”

Sherlyn shares going to Police station during feud with Rakhi Sawant

During the same interview, Sherlyn spoke about considering police help during the controversy with Sawant. She said, “I went to the police station and said, ‘Look, what’s happening is wrong. Please take action because if I don’t raise my voice today, I’ll never be able to raise it for myself again. I don’t want to live in shame. If you don’t take action, I might end up doing something drastic because I cannot live a life full of humiliation.’ The police assured me that they would investigate, gather evidence, and take the necessary action. They registered an FIR and took action.”

She added, “Look, I never wish ill for anyone, even my enemies. I want everyone to be happy and succeed. At the end of the day, Rakhi is also a single woman. I never wished harm upon her and never will. I just want her to focus on her career and do good work. She’s great at comedy, and that’s why she’s called the ‘Comedy Queen.’ She should do comedy and entertain people without hurting anyone or making someone cry, especially women. She shouldn’t say or do anything that brings tears of blood to someone’s eyes.”

Chopra concluded, “I want us all to be happy and successful. I’ve even thought that when I become a mother someday, I’d introduce my child to her. Why not? I’d tell my child, ‘This is your Maasi,’ or whatever the term would be. I believe in kindness and goodness. Kindness is above everything, above being right.”

Rakhi Sawant offers a film to Sherlyn Chopra

The last time we spoke, I was shooting for Paurashpur, when she called and asked, ‘What are you doing?’ I told her I was shooting. She then asked if I would act in her film. I asked, ‘Which film?’ She replied, Roz meri lo. I told her, ‘Look, I’m doing a very serious scene right now. Please don’t make me laugh. What’s the name of your film?’ She repeated, roz meri lo. I said, ‘If that’s the film, I can’t do it.’ She laughed and said, ‘No, no, you have to do it; you’re my friend.’ After that, we never spoke again.”
